New Years Resolutions

I was thinking more cycling / fitness / lifestyle oriented, but all contributions welcome!

This will be my third year as "a cyclist". I have made great progress with drastic weight loss and a complete change in my body and mind.

However, I feel that I have stagnated in the last few months, and gone backwards a bit, so my New Years Resolution is (starting from 1sr Jan), to get back into it with motivation, dedication and enthusiasm.

I will be keeping a food & training diary and hope to learn not to keep falling for my usual weaknesses (cakes & biscuits).

So, in a nutshell, my resolution is to train hard, eat well, adopt a holistically healthy lifestyle and get in cycling form;

1) get to 75kg (been at 79-82 most of the year - currently at 85kg!!)
2) maintain a consistently healthy diet / lifestyle and get my cholesterol down (6.6 - aged 33!)
3) maintain the motivation to keep riding, and not to look for excused to sneak off (too windy... too wet...)

Good luck to all you BR's - you have been a constant source of knowledge, motivation and inspiration, and I look forwards to another good year with you all (albeit in cyberland!).

    Do at least one sportive or long distance ride per month

    Lose another 10kg (yeah right!!)

    Get my daughter (5yo) riding

    1- To get run fit after missing most of last year due to a stress fracture.
    2- To avoid more injury from running.
    3- To balance my bike riding with my running.

    I am still maintaining one made in the late '80s.

    Not to make another resolution. :wink:

    True though.
    None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

  • Never seen the point of them as you can change your life any day you want. In fact as far as cycling goes it's not the best time in the calendar to make them either, the worst of the winter weather is usually still ahead and it's still dark evenings for a couple of months. So stop beating yourself up and save your mental energies for spring! :wink:
  • To ride from Wrexham to Cardiff in a day (was forced to quit with hypothermia this year , 12 miles short)

    To ride in Italy, hopefully during Giro

    Get to 2,000 miles this year

    And the cigarettes.......AGAIN!!!!!!

  • Lose 10Kgs (at least). Definitely NOT grow the fuxk up, my kids would never forgive me!

    1- Run a marathon
    2- Take part in some sportives
    3- Do a good triathlon

    I might leave winning the TDF on a unicycle and in fancy dress until next year.

    I've always considered this. But social occasions make it almost impossible, it just doesn't feel right. Especially going to the bar and ordering a round of cokes and no alcoholic drinks. And drinking lots of coke all night makes me feel just as ill (awake all night, constantly urinating and a ton of sugar).

    2. Ride Ventoux.
    3. Run two consecutive 6min miles.

    2 gain a couple of kilos
    3 take up smokin' n' drinkin'

    Probably won't achieve any of these...again :roll:

    Cycling

    1) Keep myself sane until April
    2) Build my left leg strength up while waiting for the doctor to say I can go cycling again - lots of swimming
    3) Get out on my bike after about 8 months off

    Non-cycling

    Continue enjoying my time with my baby
    Do well in my new job
    Do well in my studies
    Become fluent in Hungarian

    I did No.1 last year and wanted to do No.2 but personal stuff conspired against me, so I'm also hoping to do it this year. as for No.3, I hate running, so it

    Your titanium bike looks quality. Enigma, right? I'll pop over to Pretorius this week and sound them out with regards to buying/building an Outeniqua.

    1. Do at least double the mileage of last year (aiming for ~5000-6000miles for 2013)
    2. Become better at doing things

    1) Do as much cycling as possible, 2012 was a washout due to work commitments.

    2) Lose the 8 or so Kilos that i put on as a result of the above.

    3) Get my 15 year old Son interested in cycling so he does at least some sport and stays off the bloody X box, Playstation etc.
