£100 or so for a Fox fork service?

I`m looking at getting my Fox forks serviced, '08 Float RL, and was wondering if it`s actually worth the money getting them done? They seem to work fine and I can do the rear can myself with a service kit.

Will I really notice a difference apart form in my bank account? :shock:

Yep! Look for guides online. Just a basic strip, clean and oil change will have them performing great. But if the bushes are gone then send them off.

Just an update

Thanks for the advice SS, I`ve just finished putting my bike back together after doing a rear air can service and fork service :shock: I just took my time and enjoyed doing it!

I was surprised by the amount of gunk in my rear can and the stinking smell of the oil from the forks but after 5 years use

Just out of interest how much did the bits cost to service them?

Any special tools needed ?

How long job is it?

Circlip pliers are the only tool you may not have?? Otherwise most the rest is straightforward, if you buy the specific o-ring kit and seals from Enduro plus any oil you need its probably close to £50, but, knowing that you can do it yourself and next time you've got the oil already is worth it, ive done my old sid's, my old bombers a few times and my Manitou forks without any issues, also bought a box of assorted o-rings which in fairness i didn't use but knowing I've got them meant I didn't b#gger anything up with the ones on the fotks hahaha!

The bits were about £75 all in and no special tools needed for mine, yours might be different! Loads of vids on youtube helped

It took about an hour for the rear can inc faffing and about 2 hrs for the front but that included taking the forks off the bike, servicing the headset bearings and generally faffing about and tinkering before putting it all back together again

I do have a proper bike stand which helped when filling and draining the fork oil, some big 60ml syringes are handy too
