which significant riders are still out of contract?

    ...although he did receive interest from Liquigas-Cannondale, who were looking for a classics mentor for Peter Sagan.

    Liquigas didn't offer him a contract in the end because of his back problems. Accent Jobs did not renew his contract. He wanted to continue next year but couldn't find a team confident that his health issues would be solved to hire him. Perhaps not due to the economic climate, but certainly an unvoluntary retirement.
