A year out working/traveling in OZ. ((need help))

Evening everyone, I'm really thinking about trying a working holiday in OZ next year. I'm wondering if I could get some help with gathering some info on the subject from people thats recently been there or preparing to go. Like where I obtain a visa from and anything I should know helpful hints on what I need or should do???

    Hi, I'm looking at applying for jobs in australia next year, i'm gonna be on the the placement year of my building surveying degree. As far as i'm aware so far if you apply for a job as an international applicant the company will help you through the process of a working visa if you're successful. Interviews mostly seem done through Skype video calls. What line of work is it youre looking at? Since Building Surveying is registered as "in demand" by their immigration its easy to obtain a visa for it, but i'm not sure what else is on the list so you should have a look. If it's just simple unskilled jobs i don't think it'll be as easy.

    If you're young enough you can get a 24 month working holiday visa.

    A permanent res visa is a serious process and you need to read the webbie - it's all there somewhere.

    As long as you're not in a single job for longer than 6 months at a time the above is useful, but can be unstable and an insecure way of maintaining a living!

    I'm also in the demand list, I'm an electrician and specialise in switchgear so I may have a look into some electrical work, mostly im just thinking touring and work any kind of job, I can quickly turn my hand to anything. So I'm happy working kitchens to building sites.
    Yea I just found some info on the 24 month visa, if I work in the farming sector for 3 months I am eligible to a second year visa.
    My ONLY issue is I'm likely to be doing this alone, but I've no probs making friends and doing things for myself.

    Proud to be a Kiwi mate. But to be honest you guys have the better women, as the say, Aus got the criminals, NZ got the presbyterians.
    Fortunately as a Saffa (best best women)/Kiwi (best rugby team)/Pom(best...mmm....mmm well I can speak English anyway)/ I can live in Oz anytime I feel like slumming it.
