Has there been any doping in women's racing?

Apols for the newb question, but has there been anything to compare with the doping in the men's over the last 20 years or so?

I've been reading more and more about men's racing in the last few weeks, but haven't come across anything like that.

OMG, I've had a google...

Question still stands though - though there are occurrences, I gather it's nothing like on the same scale?

    Jeannie Longo anyone?
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • Basically there are a small number of cases but nothing even remotely approaching the levels in mens cycling through the last 2 decades.

There's doping in every sport. Also in women's cycling.

People dope in sportives, so I don't buy that argument.

Sorry but that's nonsense! There's doping in amateur cycling, where there's no money at all, there's definitely doping in women's cycling... although perhaps not on quite such an industrial scale
  • all right, all right Inky and bipedal...I did mean that doping wasnt happening on the same scale

sheesh, give a fellow forumite a break

Jeannie Longo did not test positive - she missed a couple of whereabouts submissions, and then her husband (and coach) was done for buying EPO (he claimed it was so he could keep up with her on training rides or something similar!)

Edit : although her and his suspensions were both later dismissed.

Yes. Anyone would think that her career lasting 105 years was helped along artificially
  • What about Andy Schleck? He's just a big girl, isn't he? :D

(well, someone had to do it...)
  • I seem to recall this one cause quite a stir.
First time that there was talk of booting cycling out of
    the Olympics:

Yes but as stated, not on the same scale. There was an interview with Marianne Vos some time back in ProCycling and she talked about certain riders suddenly improving.

  • Christ on a pushbike! "Tammy"?
I have a vague memory of one of the top women being positive for weight-control drugs.

Think that was the young World Champ at the time Bastienelli (sp.) about 4 years or so back.

There was talk in the 90s about some of the mountain bikers but following recent events I think it is a bad idea to mention names without any real evidence.
