Rear Hanger moving about when freewheeling

Its probably a simple fix but i'm not overly clued up on the mechanics of it all.
Basically when pedalling its ok, but the second i start to freewheel the rear hanger lurches forward and chain slackens worringly. I then have to pedal like mad with no resistance in order to pick up the slack.
I've trawled internet for a bit and closest looking answer appears to be the "freehub"?? Is this likely to be it?, is it repairable and roughly how much would the LBS charge me for it?. I'm gonna fetch it round to the LBS tomorrow but was just wondering it there is anything i can be doing?
Bike is only 10 months old but has done approx 1500 miles.
Any help would be most grateful.

your hanger will not be moving. but your mech cage might be.

Yikes, sounds expensive.
Is it something that would gradually get worse? i only ask as i used to be able to get round it by keeping out of the small front cog but now its doing it on all of them. :oops:0 -

Oh brill. Thanks everyone for the help. Just out of curiousity what causes these to go? Is it something i've done? or the wet/muddy conditions at the time it started?
I'm still relatively new to all this but am trying to learn. This will probably be a job for the LBS though as i need it working soon as am itching to get back out on the bike.0 -
Is a low budget part, they tend to get gunk in them due to basic seals.0
