I need a cheap road bike for commuting (20 miles a day) Carrera or Decatlon would be the obvious choices but I can't get either. It will only be used for commuting to build fitness and loose weight to improve my downhill racing.
Looks like I'm limited to bikes I can get through cyclescheme.
Any recomendations without going too far over budget?

    What scheme are you on?

Mine is Halfords but the other half's is through cyclescheme where you can buy from Decathlon so if its cyclescheme I would get a Triban 3.

Is it flat in Cider country? The only cheap new roadie I'd consider is the B-twin that people rave about but probably isn't on your C2W. I'd get a single speed.

It's generally very hillly in my part of the westcountry but I work in wiltshire which is quite flat. I will have a look at the Decathlon bikes. Single speed isn't a bad idea, simple & reliable.

Had a google, it is the b-twin triban 3 that is good value for money.

But a SS will be way more fun, it is in my experience anyway.
