campag chain advice

my sons btwin bike is around 5 years old and is kitted out with 10 speed campag zenon groupset

the chain is now getting near time to replace and i want to know what to replace it with.

do i need to buy a campag 10 speed chain ??
or will any make 10 speed chain be ok, i went to Decathlon and was told any chain will do but i thought that campag chains were different !!!

can anyone help and also possibly point me to a budget 10 speed chain that will be suitable.

Campag 10 speed chains have different pin lengths (I think) but this only a concern if you look for 'missing link' type joining links - in which case, you need a Campag compatible version. For chains themselves, any modern 10 speed will be fine with your setup.

Note, with Shimano chains, you need specific replacement pins if taking the chain off. Much better are these 'missing link' type chains. You can buy the links individually to work with a Shimano or Campag chain, but it's cheaper to get a chain with one. Such as KMC, SRAM or Wipperman, The KMC X10.93 is a great chain and works well with Campag.

For an extra fiver why not just get a Veloce chain? You'll have the peace of mind that it'll play nice with the rest of the groupset, and Campag chains last a long time in my experience.
