Morning all,

So my PC has finally given up the ghost after many years of service.

I'm not that savvy when it comes to spec so...

I already have decent monitor etc so only need the computer itself. It will be used for web browsing and editing HD movie (from gopro) and thats about it really. Probably with basic software like adobie premier

A friend recomended this website, can anyone recomend one that will suit my needs? Ideally 8GB ram would be lovley

Thanking you

    Budget?
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
  • Budget is as cheap as poss really, doesn't matter so long as its fit for purpose. About £500 max?

 love it - that's one of the most intensive jobs a computer can do!

Anwyay, pretty much anything will do the job these days, it's quite hard to get a bad machine if you stick to something like an intel Core i5 processor.
We've recently bought a ton of Dell machiens very similar to this...

at work recently, and they're very nice little machines. Well made, essentially no crapware, and quiet.

    Only 6 GB for £330.

eBuyer is usually good for decent prices or use it as a benchmark. If you do order from there, make sure the OS is included unless you've got a spare licence for another OS.

I'm sat in a room surrounded by 70 of these. Well they're the 3010 which is essentially the same as the 390 I'm using right now. They are nice little machines if you can get one.

My current computer dies a slow death if I try and play and videos greater than 720p...

So realistically how much RAM is needed to comfortably edit 1080p video?

How long is a piece of string?
it depends on what software you're using, what codec the video uses, the colour depth, frame rate, how many video tracks, how many audio tracks.
You can do some basic editing on an iPad - but then again, you can also bring an £800,000 Avid network to it's knees.
