Just stopped off at a new coffee shop and "Cyclists refuge" in Redbourn run by former pro and Plowman Craven manager Simon Barnes. Its at the end of Redbourn High Street just outsdie St Albans.

They've got a screen up and will be showing the tour on Eurosport over July so might have to pop out there again. Coffee was excellent and the carrot cak every moorish!! Might be worth a look up if you are in the area, don't know the openign times but they are open Sunday mornings.

Needless to say the cycling related chat with Simon was interesting.

  • Sounds like the perfect halfway point on a Friday long ride home... thanks.

  • Yes I've been there - great concept & coffee is vg I'd say. Just what a bike stop should be what with the homemade cakes etc!
careful you don't stay too long being regaled by the propietor with amusing stories of his cycling career!!
