Any recommend a decent bike lock for under £25. Ideally a D Lock.
I dont use my bike for commuting neither do i lock it in a ghetto. It'd just be locked up when i go into a shop when riding around lakes etc.

Definitely a D-lock and an extension cable for the wheels for more security.
http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... pack-33979 will probably do the job for what you want it for (basically a deterrent) but it probably won't stop someone who wants your bike.0 -

It's about as big as D Locks come. Don't have one, but 16mm is the minimum to use, I have a Kryptonite 3000 16mm. I supplement it with a cable lock.0

If it's little rural village shop by the trails and seems like the kind of place you'd rarely find someone having a go or loads of fellow riders and their expensive bikes are parked up there also then probably can take the risk without a lock at all. Especially if the bike is in sight most of the time, pop in the shop for a few seconds and have kept a wary eye on the people hanging about before going in. Ideally have a friend keep tabs on the bike whilst you pop in.
Anywhere else, don't bother with a lock and keep your hands or at least eyes on the bike at all times. Never pop into the local Spar with an expensive bike locked up outside. Little scum will have their mates over in seconds with suitable kit and off it goes.
Give them time and any lock can be got through with the right kit. So I wouldn't be locking up an expensive bike outside a pub out of sight for an hour or so. "What's that grinding sound?" as the angle grinder gets to work on a £100 D lock in seconds.0 -
I would never ever leave my bike without a lock outside a shop, even if I could see it! Much more chance of a lone scrote having a crack than the armies of them with angle grinders waiting in the shadows lol.0

If it's mid ride quick stop it's a right pain to be carrying a D lock with you. I'll only leave it if I'm sure I trust the people about. Usual places I do I tend to know a lot of the people about or are with friends who hang about with the bikes as each other goes in the shop.0
