I've just had a bacon & sausage sandwich, does that count?

If we go with Barthes you, as the 'author', no longer control the meaning of your 'work - so we can say that this thread exists with or without bacon. As a reader I would assert that the thread is better with bacon. Perhaps you should have made it a poll, so we test the reader response?
