I should have added I was referring to genuine Avid pads only

My E 5s are black and sintered
  • I thought that the bronze backing plate pads that come supplied with Elixirs are Organic.

I have two complete sets of Elixer's and one pair came with bronze backing and the second pair with grey - hence my original query. Both sets are the same age/type.

I didn't specify pads - one set I purchased for a bike upgrade the others came as standard on my Boardman. I suspect the grey pads on the Boardman are organic as they have worn whereas the others haven't.

It feels like to help you, you need to drag the info out of you. Why did you not mention all this at the start?

Avid's pads are Black for organic and Gold for sintered, always. Not sure about other brands aftermarket pads.

Thanks - thats what I was hoping and makes sense looking at the way they have worn.
