A while back, a number of you (you know who you are) complained bitterly and kicked up a stink about the some of the threads in Cake Stop. You moaned about the content and said that if the was different, then you might not feel quite so intimidated and would join in and contribute.

Since then, the modmins have gone through the place with a flail, have sanitised Cake Stop and made it truely dull. There is now of course Bottom Bracket, where the rules are supposed to be a bit more relaxed, however, it would appear that they're not and the mods are watching the place like hawks.

Now that Cake Stop has been turned into the dull and not at all intimidating place that you requested, could you at least do the decent thing and contribute to the forum, after all, that's what yo said you'd do.

Many thanks.........

We already have Commuting General for dull and unintimidating. If Cake Stop were a bit more lively, maybe with some 'Girls in...' threads then I'd take a look

I am in no way 'sexist', 'misogynistic' or have anything against women. I am a married man with 2 lovely daughters and I honour women above everything. But the 'Girls in...' threads on CakeStop was the best thing ever and the place is an empty cupboard without......

Hey, don't blame us. It was all DDD and one girl who stopped contributing here the second it was agreed the "Girls in..." threads would be outlawed.

I'm sorry they arsed up your forum.

If they don't start contributing then the mods may as well put the whole thing back to how it was before and make the vast majority happy again...

I have been contributing! I pushed for Rochdale to be a sh*te town for a start! And I gave someone a recipe for their cycle cafe in the lakes that ended up being printed in Bike Radar (Mars Bar cake if anyone's interested...)

Problem: an epidemic of "Girls in" threads which gave the forum a sleazy atmosphere and were far removed from spirit the original GIL thread

    Solution: Make a new forum

Do you see what went wrong?

Meh, most of us didn't care either way then and still don't now. Mods could simply have told DDD to pipe down and told CS to go easy on the pervy threads.

There were no pervy threads, threads with scantilly clad women, yes, pervy no.

I'm no pornographer, but I know the difference between what was allowed on cake stop and perverse material.

Oh smeg. It appears that cake stop was borked by people who werent there in the first place. I do have a problem with that outcome I must admit. However I would submit that this needs to be resolved twixt cakestoppites and mods? CC is a different demographic I believe? And we're not cnuts, that aint helpful.

They are moderators and are thus correct. Ascending to the office of moderator is more important than being a librarian at Alexandria, or a high priest of Thebes. Being a moderator does not give one a God complex as such, for this would be to suggest that they are not deities.

Mere doctors, lawyers or company directors can only ever be users of the forum and know not of the fine checks and balances of moderation. It is for you to be told, not to tell, for you are not a moderator.

I tend to view the forum through the New posts link, so I don't consider myself a cakestopper, commuter, or any of the above. And, in fact, I find the petty bitching and tribalism a major turn-off.
To me, the forum looks much the same, once you take out the ridiculous volume of mod-baiting and whingeing going on.
