Gear indexing

Ok so a quick probably stupid question as I am no bike mechanic but willing to fiddle and learn, I am trying to re-index my rear gears on my Boardman pro and it is an X9 medium cage rear mech, on this guide at point 7 setting rear cable do I start on the highest or lowest cog as it says a normal rear mech or low rapid rear mech !! I am assuming mine is a normal rear mech.

TBH I would read the how to on Parktools (and bookmark the link) link in my sig, as it still is the best guide out there.
I start at where the mech sits without the cable attached. in your case it should be over the small cog."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

+1 for nick. That guide really helped me, I didn't have a clue what I was doing before I read it! Printed it out and it's now kept with my tools.0
