Bertagnolli was recruited by dint of being Gibo's mate who could hang on to him on training rides... Always found it odd that he lasted this long!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Looks like dope didnt do him much good really. After having informed all the parties concerned (rider, National Federation, team, National Anti-Doping Organisation and the World Anti-Doping Agency), the International Cycling Union (UCI) announces that a disciplinary procedure has been requested against the Italian rider Leonardo Bertagnolli for apparent violation of the Anti-Doping Rules on the basis of the information provided by the blood profile in his biological passport.
The rider shall be accorded the right to the presumption of innocence until a final decision has been made on this matter. Under the World Anti-Doping Code and the UCI Anti-Doping Rules, the UCI is unable to provide any additional information at this time.

“Team Lampre-ISD announces that it received, from cyclist Leonardo Bertagnolli, a communication about the notification of the opening of potential anti-doping rule violation in relationship to the biological passport,” says the team’s statement.
“In the full spirit of fairness and of the clean sport, Lampre-ISD acknowledges the information, pointing out with surprise that - as explained by Bertagnolli after he had analysed the documentation - the potential violations dated back to the period 2008 and 2009, when he was not in blue-fuchsia team.”Contador is the Greatest0 -

From that article, does anyone know who / what team is being referred to here?
In the spring of 2010, some riders of a Pro-Tour team that were training at altitude (on Teide, Tenerife) were subjected to the normal ABP samples. One they received the results of the analysis, considering them unreliable (the values were too high), all it took was a phone call from the team doctor to his friend Dr. Zorzoli, in charge of UCI's doping department, in order to get the results of those tests cleared from the profiles, as deemed inconvenient for the Team and for the sake of the Biological Passport system, which tends not to consider the effects of altitude.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Do we really trust Ferrari though? I know he might be the expert on these matters, but he does have an axe to grind. This is only his word that the collectors are not doing the job properly or that the labs/ experts are not following protocol.
He may be correct, and we have seen UCI ineptitude/protocol lapses many times, but I thought the system would help to iron out anomalies due to the panel system. i.e. not relying on one just person getting it right every time. it is it is discussed by several people before decisions are made.
Is there any evidence to help prove/disprove his theory?--
