    Simple as:

Undo bar tape all the way. Cut in 200 pieces with scissors and throw in next door's garden.

Peel back hoods - you will see on (from the front) the right hand side an allen bolt. Undo this. The whole lever assembly will go all floppy. Just loosen this bolt, don't take it out all the way otherwise you will cause yourself a world of grief.

Cut the tape that currently holds the cables to the bars. You can now move the lever assembly off the bars.

Undo stem face plate bolts. Pop in a cup or tin so you don't lose them.

    Pop on new bars.

Pop in finger tight the stem bolts after you have cleaned them and the stem threads and copperslipped the whole shebang.

Smack old bars with a hammer and throw them into next door's garden.

Slip on lever assembly and tighten up.

Go to the side of the bike - the bottom of the new bars should be horizontal to the floor.

Do the levers up but before you put the tape on go for a spin: this will allow you to set the lever height you want.

Go home, stand bike up on something perfectly flat and place a spirit level across both lever assemblies: this will let you get themboth the exact same height.

    Tighten them up.

Go to the face plate: using your torque wrench, do the bolts up: do them in diagonals to spread the weight (ie top right, bottomleft, top left, bottom right etc etc) until they are torqued correctly in places.

Hold cables where you want them, tape into place with insulting tape.

Apply new handlebar tape as per Park Tools website video.

Go for a gentle spin to make sure that all is in place.

Whilke you are there, take the stem off the forks and take out all spacers so the new bars are slammed: smash the spacers with a hammer and throw them into next door's garden.
