Hi

Well not a good evening so far. Just took my rear wheel apart to work out why the freehub was occasionally slipping and the freehub pawl spring has broken (meaning only 1 of the 3 pawls was actually doing its job!!)

Would anyone happen to have a spare that they could post to me in exchange for beer tokens as i need one in a hurry (by the weekend) and cant rely on Ribble Cycles getting spares out in time without paying the next day delivery charge of £6.95 (for a £6 pack of 5)

this is the item here...

Well Ribble came up trumps and delivered a pack of 5 springs to me for £6 all in. Just cleaned and fitted the freehub and all fitted.

Problem is though the non drive side bearing is pretty rough!! Not overly impressed as the wheels have only done around 1,500 miles. Ah well - time to order some decent quality bearings - it'll have to do for this weekend.

Well that was easy. Just ordered 6 (4 rear and 2 front) SKF 6001-2RSL bearings from Somerset Bearings. These should be high quality (being SKF) and are the low friction variant. £20.30 delivered for the full set.

I cant overstate the difference those bearings make.
New wheels (fulcrum 5s), spin the wheel on the upturned bike...i was dissapointed how quickly they rolled to a stop.
Fitted SKFs low friction seal bearings...instantly they spin and spin...and spin....

Well thats great to hear - and they arent exactly expensive either at that price. I'll post back myself after fitting the new bearings once they arrive, probably next weekend.
