Currently watching Die Another Day and am reinforced with the unpopular view that Brosnan was the best of the Bonds, although I do have a soft spot for Lazenby (if nothing else but for the final scene in that movie).

Ahhh, well. There's the Bond and then there's the film he was in. OHMS is clearly one of the best Bond films although Lazonby himself was, let's be honest, wooden!
On the other hand, I can't get past Brosnan being good or bad because the films themselves were so bl00dy terrible. Die another Day just stinks! If it were animal it would be a sperm whale that had died on Weymouth beach during record hot temperatures and resisted all attempts to remove it for a month.........
Still Connery for me tbh.
BTW, went to the Bond cars exhibition at Beaulieu a couple of months back. Some rather good exhibits! The real things apparently. The Hornet isn't the jump car as that had a central steering wheel but it is a film car.
And some expensive tat. Impressive how well the Casino Royale car stood up to the multiple roll.

Goes back to my point about the film though. I thought he was excellent in Casino Royale which, aside from the nonsense at the beginning and end (the latter in particular just pointless overlong padding), was a remarkably faithful adaptation of the book and all the better for it.
On the other hand Quantum of Solace, which had nothing of Fleming in it, was dreadful in every respect and there was nothing Craig could do about it. They'd be better off remaking more of the original books that were badly handled in the past (Moonraker being a classic example - great book, poor film)Faster than a tent.......0 -

Bond is pretty hard faced in the book - the final line about Vesper Lynd has quite a kick to it in the book.
Trouble with Bond today is that it has no glamour. Anyone with a half decent job can afford to go to anywhere Bond goes at any time. In the 60s, all Bond had to do was drive a car across the Alps and it was impossibly glamorous.
Craig can never be as cool as this whatever he does or wherever he goes.......!

For me:
1, Connery - Bond as the books built character and very few gadgets, more about wits and fists.
2, Craig - Still a hard man, but more gadgety
3, Moore - tongue and cheek bond
4, Brosnan - not really one or the other
5, Lazenby - 'used car anyone'? And Bond should never marry.
Best bond villain;

Comparisons are fairly useless as each has tried to do it in their own way. Brosnan hammed it up the best, Connery was the best all-rounder. Daniel Craig has pretty much nailed Bond as the bastard that he is in the books, well as much as he can in a family film anyway!Trail fun - Transition Bandit

I like Connery and Craig, they both play the part very well. Craig is more believable in the fights, Connery with the laydees. Brosnan looked like he'd never be anywhere near a fight, Dalton looked uncomfortable with any sort of hanky-panky.
Roger Moore's films always seemed like rubbish, lightweight comedies. He was no different as Bond as he was in the Cannonball Run, which admittedly was the point of his role in the latter, but it showed up how ineffectual he was in a more serious role.0 -
But, on the other hand, Live and Let Die is pretty good for a Bond film despite being a Roger Moore and OHMSS is easily in the top three and maybe in the top 1 despite Lazenby making Moores acting look expressive!
Interestingly, unlike the very recogniseable Moore and Connery, George Lazenby is (to me at least) now entirely unrecogniseable!
