US Road Race 2012 *Spoiler*

Going with some solid form in Cali, Timothy Duggan of Liquigas soloed for the US RR12 win yesterday.

The lad is 29 and hasnt won since 2005. He only had one teammate racing against fully fielded US teams (lightweights but still).

30 riders went clear early. The peloton, in the chase, got down to 40 riders...

Apparently Peterson (Garmin) rode the front of the first pack for a huge amount of time.

Tejay Van Garderen (BMC Racing), defending champion Matthew Busche (Radioshack-Nissan), Chad Beyer (Competitive Cyclist), Ben Jacques-Maynes (Bissell), Nathan Brown (Bontrager-Livestrong), and Tom Danielson (Garmin-Barracuda) gapped the chasing group to try and bridge to the first group.

Duggan went solo with 15miles or so remaining and held off the chasers winning by 26 secs.

    I like Timmy Duggan, always a solid performer in his garmin days, never really seemed to kick on to bigger results though. Hope this is the start of something for him.

    Sorry, I missed it completely. Every utterance of the C word does seem to bring in 4 pages of Chipper-Chat though. Which is the worst kind of chat.

    a fish and chipper is a relative term

    some lowly 3/4 cat race is not a chipper but a errl race at hog hill where all 8 members of metaltek turn up in a field of 30 riders is

    the US road champs is not a chipper... there are a number of decent us riders from various teams in there

    the uk road race champs is somewhat dominated by sky as it somewhat more chipperesque.. but even there plenty of times the uk champ has jumped out from lesser teams

    If USA cycling want their national championships to be considered a little more prestigious then maybe they should think about a date which doesn't clash with the second biggest race in cycling.

    American-based team Garmin Barracuda with a North American rider just won the Giro. American based team BMC also won the Tour last year. Garmin won Paris Roubaix last year and Radioshack won a number of stage races.

    Sure, that counts for something. U.S. and Japan pretty much dominate the sport with Shimano and SRAM...they win everything!

    We've had this discussion already. No one but the ASO cares Andy won, not even Andy himself. Sad. So I'm guessing Specialized is not making any room on their 'Winners' wall for Schlecks Tour bike if they didn't give it away already.
