I might be a bit late to the party but wanted to share http://grooveshark.com/

Not used spotify but this is fantastic; no ads, no software, free and easy to setup shared and private playlists.

    http://www.stereomood.com is great for listening to pre-made playlists according to your mood or what you're up to, and you can then drop your fave tracks into your own lists, and http://www.soundcloud.com is awesome for mixes of all sorts of stuff.
