Well, today really is the worse day ever for me.

Been a bloody awful day at work and looked forward to getting home and getting on the bike to forget it all...

That is until I lost me footing in my cleats and landed ontop of my bike, smashing the seatstays and written off the rear wheel, think carbon saddle is a gonner too.

My question is what will the insruance company do? I am covered for all my bikes as they are all listed, for full value including the upgrades. I have proof of purchase for the bike, but not the wheels (EA90SL's) will they send me a cheque for the whole value? or the parts?

Want to know so I can know roughly how long I will be without a bike...

Cheers

Eeek! That sounds like quite a spill to do so much damage. How are you?

I take it you have accidental damage cover? Because that sounds kind of expensive. Did you buy the wheels second hand? Or new and paid by card?
If the latter then your statement may act as proof of purchase or you could contact the retailer for a copy of the receipt. We do that for customers who have had bikes nicked and they haven't the original receipt. Never had a problem with insurance companies refusing to accept them as proof.

    Either way, glad you're okay!

Yup, I have accidental damage cover.

I dont have the recipt, the annoying thing is I got them in the sale from CRC for £250, so if they give me that or less I will have to tump up the extra for another set.....
  • If you got them from CRC you should be able to print off the receipt from "Your Account" on the webiste, or if this doesn't work call them and they'll be able to email you a copy.

If your policy is new for old, it may well cover them at replacement cost, not the sale price...if you're lucky...

You lucky lucky chap then! But like alaric says, if it's a new for old policy you may find yourself even luckier.

Time-scale for a payout varies so much, it really depends on who you're with, say the letters E&L and best of luck...

Well, some good news (I think) Just spoken to the insurance company (Zurich will handle the claim) and their specialist replacer is Be Valued.

Need to nip my bike into All Terrain Cycles tomorrow and they will price up the job and provide a quote for the company.

Now I did find out though I am covered for £4000 per bike, this only applies to theft, and I am covered for £1500. I assume this will be enough to secure replacement frame & wheels?

Well, dropped it at the shop today and confirmed that its a write off, and the wheel.

So I assume that I will end up getting a cheque from the company as All Terrain will quote for a new TCR Comp 1 bike @ £1800.

Which is good, as I ideally would prefer a cheque as I should be able to get a decent frame & wheels for £1500k aprox.
