Portable Radio for riding
Does anybody listen to the radio while out riding off road? If so what’s the best portable sports radio out there with good reception and sound quality one you can hear over the wind, ease of use with arm strap? I have Nike Philips one at the moment which is excellent but it’s on its last legs and they don’t make it anymore. Help please!

Or a MP3 Player with FM radio that works and doesn't have sh1te reception with sound you can hear while riding over the wind blowing the headphones0

I have no problem where I ride with reception on my current Nike Philips radio was wondering what options are available as it's no longer produced0

I have no idea if it is, but would a DAB radio be better for reception? My DAB radio at home is awesome, picks up signal stupidly quick and always spot on, compared to the previous Sony non DAB radio I had.
No idea what it'd be like in the great outdoors.0 -

NOPE!! If youve got mobile signal an iPhone will play BBC Iplayer!! I listen to radio 1 cos im a chav at heart so im sorted for 99% of the country!! And if youve no signal just play some mp3's in your iTunes library!0

I can, the only issue is jitters and possibly a signal drop when the phone goes from using one mast to another which i sometimes get in a dip round my trails.YeehaaMcgee wrote:

Got an Edge mobile signal here, and can't stream radio1.
+1, need 3G or Wi-Fi.
I've got one of the newest iPod Nanos with an FM radio, and it's shite, so don't get one of those! Was thinking it'd be good to listen to the radio whilst riding for a bit of variety, (got the Nano as warranty replacement for an old one), but it just doesn't work, horrendous signal. They use the headphones as the aerial, and I understand the Apple ones work best (no surprise), shame they're crap!0 -
Ner. I find i can only get a reliable connection for radio streaming with HSDPA. 3G takes too long to switch from one mast to another when streaming, so it drops the stream sometimes.njee20 wrote:Got an Edge mobile signal here, and can't stream radio1.
