looking at a new wheelset for general uk riding. a few lumps and bumps. not sure whether to go for a full 50mm carbon clincher or whether to compromise with a 38mm rim. opinions appreciated

For general riding I would stick to lower profile rims. Even the 38 are a bit excessive

Zipp are making big aero claims for their new(ish) 303 firecrest rims. Expensive, but may be worth considering if funds permit.

The zipp 303 in the tubolars version have won the classics on cobbles, which says a lot about the quality. The price tag is one to put off anyone who is not in to racing at a good level though.

personally speaking, there is not a big defference between these two depths, but one fact, 50mm clincher is expensiver than 38.

in our factory, more of our clients prefer 50mm instead of 38mm, especially with UD matte finish.
but i think it just up your taste.
