105 5600 front mech

with

Dura ace 7900 shifters

Yes I know it's a big mismatch and I will upgrade the front mech when one comes along and I have some cash but will these two work together or is the cable pull just completely different?

The cable pull is significantly different between 7900 shifters and any Shimano road front mech from other series (even 6700 front mech).

However I suspect that with judicious adjustment of the limit screws you can get it to work fine.
Just won't be as smooth as with 7900 front mech, and I would not shift it under load (i.e. changing b/w rings while going up hill).

Thanks, I did read that they are not compatible so I've shelled out a small fortune for a dura ace front mech

    Ouch

    Really ?
I understood that the gear cable pull was the same - it was the brake cable pull which was different ?
(and hence wouldn't affect running the front mech here)
