Just wondered if anyone else is riding a 'heavyweight'. My beloved hybrid (a Claud Butler which I bought second hand for 60 quid) weighs in at 14.5kg.

Though, to be fair, I weigh in at considerably more...

    My bike is probably close to yours - it's an XL Specialized Rockhopper Comp 29. It's heavy by modern standards, but it's cheaper to lose weight off me than the bike :-)

    i think most commute bikes are no light weights, my bike is 34lb/15kg unlaiden, and thats a SS with panniers.

    Agree with Roger.

    Once you commuterise any bike, it weighs the proverbial tonne. Don't fret. Just ride.
