Something to nibble on ...
Italian Vincenzo Nibali, Tuesday's winner of the Tirreno-Adriatico race, is rumoured to have signed with the Astana team from Kazakhstan for next year, despite reports he is in talks with his Italian Liquigas team. Recent reports were that Astana offered him €4 million net for two years.

    That from Sagan's Twitter account?

    Kreuziger will just love that.

Nibali’s contract with Liquigas-Cannondale expires at the end of 2012 and Astana is already understood to have tabled a sizeable offer to secure his services for next season. Following his win at Tirreno-Adriatico, however, Nibali was keen to stress that his preference would be to remain at Liquigas.

“I would like to stay, this is my team. This is my home and they mightn’t care for me as well anywhere else. We’ve come a lot closer [to an agreement] about renewing the contract.”

Yeah he credited you, then Vaughters had a rant about it.

I wonder which new rumour is likely to elicit the better response: "Nibali to Garmin Barracuda" or "Dan Martin to Astana"

    Totally!!

I wonder is it purely the cash thats the attraction for Nibs or does he feel that Leakygas left him down... Also very early in the season for something like that to come out (if its true) . it could screw up any team support for Nibs for the rest of the year (assuming he is leaving just for the dosh...) ..

  • After Contadors ban from the Giro and Tour, Didnt Basso and Nibali state in an interview that Niabli is riding the giro in support of Basso and then basso will return the favour and support nibali in the tour which suggests the hierarchy amongst the riders is changing. but then there's Sagan who seems to care more about himself at times than teamates, and liquigas don't look a team that can support both riders to exploit their full potential. I think Nibali will wait untill at least until after the tour before he even begins to think about Astana's offer.

Seems a bit early days. Isn't the Tour the time to do talkies?? Maybe Sagan likes to rock the boat a little. Can't see Kreuziger sticking it, as was said above.
I think there are cracks in the Sagan/Nibs story; maybe a bit of the "Bastardo Ignorante!!" once again!! (Simoni- Cunego)
I guess if Nibali hadn't have attacked yesterday and kept the group together then Sagan would feel as though he could have easily won the sprint in the final at San Remo. I see Sagan's point; I'd be a little bit peeved at Nibali's doomed attack yesterday if I could've won.

Not these days. The Tour is when the deals are sealed. Talkies start about now.

To be fair Nibali wasn't the issue for Kreuziger.

It was the fact that at the time Liquigas has so many GC riders.
