Hi all.

Me and the cousin are looking at camping around Whinlatters Forest this coming May BH weekend.. Can someone please offer advice on campsites in or around the area with preference to a pub nearby?

many thanks.

    Stayed here weekend just gone.

It's in Braithwaite at the bottom of Whinlatter - you can ride up the road or up through the woods to the trail centre (or drive up if you like paying £6.90 a day parking). There are two ok pubs in the village and you can get a bus into Keswick and back easy enough.

ah, I've just noticed the usual 'no group bookings' and 'note that no reservations are taken for camping' - did you just turn up? And were you in a group?

    thanks again..

There were 3 of us but two had booked camper van places. The tent camper just turned up, pitched his tent and paid on the Saturday morning.

If you're going May BH weekend get there early, possibly on the Friday as most of the campsites in and around Keswick will be rammed

Or park in the last car park on the left before the VC which was free the last time we were there
