Are IBIS owners the new Orange owners?

How does the Orange feel compared to the Meta?0
-
A bit longer all round, the Meta was only big enough by virtue of the very relaxed seat tube angle, this did leave me hanging right over the back axle though. The biggest noticable difference was climbing, racing up things I used to chug up before, the Meta only really felt happy sat down climbing due to the really plush feeling mid range of the shock.
I was also surprised to see the huge looking stays on the Five were actually considerably narrower than that of the Metas, rubbed a big mark in the Meta from heels rubbing, quite a bit gap with the Five.
Sizing aside, very similar feeling bikes though really. From everything I had a play on, I'd say it was the closest feeling bike. Sadly the sizing also removes things like Hecklers from the equation.0 -

Nay, it was good fun, fits much better than the Meta too Just swapping the frame and forks, keeping the XT bits and Hope wheelset. The Mojo was a blind purchase, and it was a bit short, silly mistake. I actually tested this one fortunately Kashima Float RLC and RP23 too, exciting times!Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc 10- CANYON Nerve AM 6 20110 -
Toasty wrote:I so badly wanted that Mojo to fit it was truely awesome! Certainly not an issue with the bike, loads of people get on really well with them, I'm just a bit off the top end of the scale.
Apparently one of the chaps that works there is 6'4" or something similar, I think he must have a really long neck and head or something.
Yep they need to update the geometry of the range, something I thought they'd do with the SL-R, but alas they didn't... they need more length and revise the angles abit0 -

You also told me I couldn't afford one, hehe0 -

Geometry is so subjective - bikes are getting slacker, longer and shorter in the stem: I don't like the head angle too slack.
Adjustable geometry is going to become mainstream, and the anglesets and linkages are leading the way.0 -

I genuinely expected it to be an issue, I'd ridden the old 68.5 degree version and got on very well with it. My Pitch felt very slack on the flat, at slow speed, oddly with the Orange it was never an issue. I'm not sure it's different companies measuring differently or what. Can't see myself rushing to get a Fox 36 though
I've got the Scandal for racing uphills, the second bike is allowed to be a bit silly. 745 bars all the waysupersonic wrote:Adjustable geometry is going to become mainstream, and the anglesets and linkages are leading the way.
I do hope so My old 2001 Enduro even had a little plate you could flip over to slacken the head angle, I have no idea why it didn't become the norm 10 years ago, seems crazy. Shame Cannondale stopped doing Prophets, they seemed to tick all the boxes.0 -
There seems to be no standard with geometry, some measured static, some with sag, some just don't say!0

It appears that a lot of the stuff I write implies something else to others when it actually means something completely different...
it happens to us all
I must admit really the bike forums make brand squabbling look completely and utterly amateurish compared to the folk on mumsnet or practical machinist those guys are absolutely at the top of their game0 -
Would have to say yeah, people even put in their username on here that they own an IBIS. IBIS.......... etc, little bait ghay.0

Some people save for years for their dream bike be it an Ibis, Orange, Santa Cruz, Yeti, whatever....
People love their bikes, they are their pride and joy. They are entitled to be proud of what they own. Let them enjoy it and get on with enjoying your own bike I reckon.0 -

Point well made, you get some people who have far too much money for their own good, show up on posh bikes in audis etc etc, but if you work hard for it, like I did, ride what the hell you like 8)0 -
I think the entire argument stems from the "If you're the same as me, you're great! Otherwise you're wrong." attitude. Who gives a crap what car they drive :P Get over it.0

That's an Ibis hoodie as in the bike brand, not the the hotel chain.
And besides, you shrunk it in the wash, so nyah!0 -

I thought a Saab was more appropriate... Lots of marketing hype, pointless advertising, advised to be the best, seen as the new best thing, failed after reality hit home.... ;0) (Lights the fuse and runs for cover) ;0)
