Looking to get some insurance cover and I am after some recommendations. I am looking for something that covers me if I was to knock someone down, third party liability I believe it is. I am also after something that works like car insurance does, if a driver knocks me down I get their details, they get mine and I let the insurance sort it out.A policy that would cover the damages until the other parties insurance pays up would be good, save putting my hand in my pocket.
Injury cover would be good as well but I not sure whether that comes under insurance or whether you sort that after with a solicitor.

Cheers.

I'm not sure that (the bit in bold) happens.

In any case, British Cycling Ride membership, or the equivalent from the CTC is what you want.

If you have or are covered by a home insurance policy then you probably already have 3rd party liability cover.

  • Hi Jedi Master

I have recently bought home insurance with Direct Line. From my research their cycle cover covered the value of the bike up to £2,000.

As long as the bike has been locked to an immovable object then it is covered. (Get a good D lock for this).

I can keep my bike in my shed and not in the house.

If the bike is damaged then I will get a new replacement.

They will cover travel costs to get me home after an accident.

If I got injured then the policy covers this as well as part of their Life cover within the Home Insurance policy.

Also give them a call if you have an expensive bike and haggle with the first price they give you. If you say something like I will need to look online as it seems pricey then they will do a discount. I got £90 off and the cover stayed the same.

I found specialists bike cover had some stupid clauses like must be kept indoors when unattended which is not always possible in my case and was very expensive.
