Anyone seen 'Woman in Black' ?

Any thoughts ? I saw it at the Fortune Theatre about 10years ago and it was incredible, just wondering how it translates to the big screen.

Saw it on the stage back in the nineties, the best play I have ever seen. Someone in the audience actually screamed at one point.

It was the eyes that gave it away wasn't it?

I thought the movie was excellent, saw it a few days ago. The hammer production was brilliant, good old fashioned british ghost story imo
  • Very spooky/errie - enough to make you want to turn the landing light on!

Book is a mess-mash up of M.R. James and a bit of Dickens thrown in.Imagine the film will be scary though.

Girls in Yashmaks just doesn't do it for me.
  • Saw it a couple of weeks ago. It was ok. Only really scary when a loud noise occurred. Think it's a bit overrated to be honest.

Well, I went to see it this afternoon with Mrs C and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's ghost story, not a horror story and as such I think it delivers.

I did however, make a schooloy error. The 1.45pm showing on a Saturday was full of kids, most of whom were scared sh*tless and as a result there was a lot of screaming. I think that they were all Harry Potter fans and thought that they were going to see something more akin to that. At one point when the woman in black appeared, one little darling shouted "Expelliarmus" to try to get rid of here ?!?!!?

If anyone's thinking of seeing it, I'd recommend that they do :D

I saw it last week - and also saw the play in Covent Garden a few years ago.

The film is good, but for me I actually think the play is better. It was in a very small/old theatre and that added to the effect. I'd recommend seeing both!

It was the Fortune Theatre in Drury Lane, it's where I saw it about 10 years ago. It was amazing !

I'd go with this. A small spooky step up from the sixth sense
  • Once I got over the pain of watching Daniel Radcliffe act I started enjoying it... For anyone that hates Potter it takes approx. 45 mins :P

Watched it yesterday and spent much of my £9.40 updating my phone.

Thought the highlight was the last seen at the station when some wag in the cinema sang out, "Girl on the platform smile!"

it was good but i wouldn't watch again.

very tense the whole way through, with a few bits to make you jump (or scream if you are a 12yo girl) but i didn't find the story very interesting.. a bit boring.

i imagine the play would be a lot better though.

I don't know where you're based, but the play is much much better (I did enjoy the film though), so if you get the chance, go and see the play at the Fortune Theatre in Drury Lane, London, and make sure that you get seats in the stalls. If you don't enjoy it, I'll refund you the ticket price myself. (well, I might not, but you get the idea)
