I know there is another thread but not sure if people are wanting to avoid the results due to delayed tv coverage.

Anyway, Greipel has just won the first stage.

    Yay Greipel.

It sounded like a ridiculously straight route.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

I imagine it's because most of the boys from Team Sky are missing the words 'EAT S**T NOW' coming from Brian Holm on the team radio...!

Cavendish didn't sprint. He just rode in the peloton. Obviously not feeling too good.

Cav just tweeted: Yep, not the best of days today. Ran off the road by Alexander Kristoff with 1200m to go. Shit happens. Well done to @AndreGreipel.

Milan - San Remo is basically a month away.

Pretty important to get that racing in your legs, especially after the winter break.
  • Have others noticed that after Mr Griepel out sprinted Mr Cavendish in the TdF last summer, he became 'Andre'. Previously known as "that other sprinter" or similar, it is clear that to obtain the respect of Mr Cavendish all that is required is to beat him in a sprint. Easy really.

It's like that with most riders.

I remember Cav was very upset before his first ever MS-R when Boonen said he wasn't really a favourite - too young and not proven over 200km...

Doesn't seem to have gotten over that one, though it obviously irks Boonen that Cav regularly beats him in sprints.

Why are Eurosport showing it all a day late?

Having watched yesterday's highlights, one can only assume that's how long it takes to edit out the worst of Carlton Kirby's mistakes.

Not sure, but the run in was quite lumpy, and enough to drop the pure sprinters.

Greipel made the top 10 so he's either improved on the lumps or it wasn't that lumpy. Profile suggests a height gain of just over 100m in nearly 20km.

Maybe he's thinking of going alone at some point to get back some seconds...
