Ultegra 6600 vs 6700 bottom bracket?

What's the 'upgrade'...?

My Google-Fu is poor and I can find very little info about any differences between the 6600 and 6700 bottom bracket. The only reason I ask is that I can find the 6700 cheaper than the 6600 and I need a new bottom bracket for my 6600 chainset. Literally about to order the 6700 anyway so it's just my curiosity that needs fulfilling...

    6600 is HollowTech-II, not sure about 6700...

    [update] 6600 is a flatbar component, 6700 is a roadbike component. They dont state they are compatible but its likely as both are HollowTech

    OB - cheers for the links. The 6600 and 6700 are both Hollowtech II bottom brackets and are 100% compatible, I was just wondering what the actual differences are in terms of any 'upgrade' on the newer 6700? Better bearings and seals? As far as I can tell they're the same...?

    6600 is just the last version of Ultegra, its not flatbar specific.
    As for the difference, probably none. they'll both work so get the cheapest - or even 105. No-one will know...

    Get a Tiagra one if you want to save your pennies. They are all interchangeable

    Alas it seems that an SM-FC 5600 (which I purchased cheap) does not fit my SM-FC 6601 despite rumour to the contrary.

    This could be due to the IA vs GA marking. Perhaps. The markings on mine were worn out.

    I seem to remember that mine is BSA. So while any Holotech II BB may work with any Holotech II BB, you need to watch out for thread

    I wonder if the tiagra is as good as an ultegra since they are cheap. A 4600 in 68BSA can be had for 13USD from China. I think I will go with Ultegra which in its 6800 version can be had for 17USD from Japan including adapter so I can use an old bottom bracket wrench. From 69800 the dimply bit for tightening it up is smaller, so an adapter or new tool is need apparently.

    Yes, newer stuff (6800, 5800 etc) is smaller outside dimension so need different tool or adapter. Bearings are the same. MTB ones have longer plastic tube and slightly more threads (for spacers, chain devices etc) sample of 2 but my ultegra one has lasted longer than the 105 it replaced
