Chain skip / resrticted

I recently bought some new road wheels and fitted a new 9 speed Shimano cassette at the same time i also replaced the front middle chainring and chain.
But whenever the chain is in the middle front chainring and in the second or third rear sprockets i cannot back pedal or the chain is restricted from doing so, its very annoying whenever you stop at lights or at junctions and you need to back pedal so you can get the pedal right so you can engage you cleat.
Anyone here offer any help please?

    assuming chain length and rear mech etc. alignment are all ok

    if the freehub is a bit stiff (new, still plenty of sticky grease), that could make it more likely the chain will 'back up' on the way back over the smaller sprockets - back-pedaling slower may avoid this

    is that what's happening, or something different?

    You haven't got a stiff link in the chain have you? My drivechain wouldn't go backwards yesterday, but on closer inspection I discovered the chain had taken on an orange hue due to being inadequately dried / not lubed after the wet ride the day before. Now it's all lubed up again it's backpedalling nicely.

    I have had another look and i cannot see any problems so i might leave it into LBS and see if they can get to the bottom of it.

    Update.
    The guy at the bike shop thinks i should replaced the jockey wheels, he didn't have any in stock, so i might replace them, so are all jockey wheels the same?
