Cycleops Mag Trainer

Could anyone who has one of the basic Cycleops mag trainers, please tell me what the triangular plastic knob on the right hand side of the resistance unit is for?

It's not coverered in the instruction "manual" or the assembly video. It doesn't seem to do anything at all but it must have some purpose....

    It's to alter the resistance manually. If you look closely, you can see the magnets moving closer/further away from the wheel.

    Is it very effective, do you find? i.e. is there much of a change in resistance.

    I can't honestly say - I have the unit set to the maximum resistance and just use the bike's gearing to make things easier or harder.
