I passed a cyclist in my car tonight and he had a small flashing rear light attached to the back of his helmet ( obviously one on his bike as well) and I thought it was a really good idea and would like to do the same so i`m after suggestions for which light to get to attach to the back of my helmet.

  • Busch and Muller do a neat jobby called the topfire. Four LEDs fix into the vents at the rear of the helmet and the battery/switch unit fits to the straps

I've bought 2 pairs of these for my helmet, 2 on the rear and one on the peak. The only time I've taken them off was for new batteries recently.

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • I've bought the Smart mini LED set from Planet X for a fiver. Both fit onto my Giro Pneumo helmet really well (with the rear one slotting nicely into the rear vent.

I've got a Knog Frog Strobe on the back of my helmet.

Very small and easy to mount.

Same here work great. I had previously paid £14 for Knoggs which knackered after a few wet rides. These cheap ones seem to last better and are just as bright IMO.

For the price order 3 or 4 sets - less than a fiver!

My rear light didn't survive me washing the bike. :-(

What he said. I've got a Bell Sweep and the rear one tucks very neatly in to the central rear vent

Whan I add 4, it multiplies the postage cost, so 4 cost £6.56, as opposed to the £4.61 I was expecting.

    Err...No..total cost for each pair is 99p + 65p = £1.64...times that by 4 = £6.56 :|

Worth it for 8 lights I think  I've had one stop working for no apparent reason, but at that price who cares. The others have worked a treat for approx 300 miles commuting even in torrential rain, so they owe me nothing now :)

Ah ok, ta, I thought perhaps there was meant to be a postal discount - the bit that threw me was:
"For the price order 3 or 4 sets - less than a fiver!" - I thought this meant you ordered 4 sets delivered for less than fiver
