Hello,

Just a quick question, if I have this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=44226 fitted in my frame will this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=39018 fit? As I understand it, bb86 gives the same width as standard threaded bb cups just that they are internal rather than external, is this correct?

Thanks a lot.

Yes, BB86 is designed for standard 24mm-axle, external bearing chainsets so provided you have the matching BB and chainset, you shouldn't have a problem.

Monty - do you know if the same is true with bb90? Specifically will a FSA chainset fit a bb90 frame that currently has a shimano chainset in without any change of adpaters etc?

BB90 and BB86 are pretty similar and are often just different manufacturers designations - BB86 refers to the frame shell width whereas BB90 is the width of the BB withe the bearings installed. FWIW Trek's BB90 is different to Giants. If you're running a standard Hollowtech 2 chainset then there's no reason why you couldn't fit some models of FSA Megaexo chainsets - usually the alloy ones like Gossamer. Most FSA carbon chainets take a narrower bearing and are not interchangeable with Hollowtech. Worth checking before you buy. Just bought three custom ti frames from China so genned up on this stuff.
