Subscribe to/watch thread and PM's

Perhaps it is because I am plank thick, but is there an easy way to subscribe/watch a thread?

Also how do I get to my PM inbox outbox? I am currently having to search for the thread that initiated the PM conversation, find the member etc etc, surely there is an easier way?
