Just wondering, does anyone make specific winter boots for flats, I like the Northwave's but can't get on with SPD's (although I can get off spectacularly)

I ride in a pair of Karrimor trainers/walking shoes. Grip really well, fully waterproof and toasty warm - cost about 15 notes from some random discount sports shop.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
Pair of "Rocktrail" synthetic boots from Aldi with sealskinz mid socks. Boots light the combo is good for cold and soaking conditions...0

was just wondering if the height around the ankle is a hiderance or not, compaired to something low cut like this

Bought some Karrimor Summit waterproof shoes from said sportsdirect and couldnt get on with them on flats as not flat and kept loosing my footing. Shame as thought they looked good.

Aye, walking shoes are always a gamble. I've got a pair of Rohan goretex things which are just about passable but for most, the sole design just doesn't work well with flats.
And it really annoys me! How hard can it be for Shimano to stick an AM41 sole on one of their brilliant winter boots, or for 5 10 to goretexise an Impact High?
Teva links is supposed to deal well with water, but isn't a boot, it's a low skaty shoe. Five Ten allegedly have something on the way but apparently the "trailbuilder shoe" and at least another 5 inexplicable "SPD shoes but with sticky soles" are more important :PUncompromising extremist0 -

Nah, we're getting away from the question i asked now, are higher ankle type boots a hinderance compared to a normal low shoe.Ive used a light walking/hiking shoe for the past 2 years or so but getting due for replacement soon, i'd consider a higher boot , but think it may restrict the ankle some what, unless any one can say different.0

I'd think they'd be more of a hinderance yes, not cycled in them though and woudln't particularly want to though, the thought of the weight of the boot itself puts me off for a start...0
