New Groupset - Cable Question

Hi All,

I picked up a SRAM Force groupset in the Merlin Sale recently and it arrived with "naked" cables pre-attached to the shifters and no cable housing.

Not a huge issue but I just wanted some advice on the best course of action as I need new outers when I rebuild the Infinito for next summer.

The reason I ask is that I thought the SRAM cables were Gore and part of their excellent performance related to the quality of the cables AND outers so I am reluctant to use just any outers I can find - or does it not matter?

Other option is to fork out for the Gore/SRAM cable set with outers.

Your thoughts please

  • standard practice with sram not to provide the outers it seems.

anyhow, I use either the gore (just the outers and have the cables as spares) or Dure Ace cable outers (or set)

    Where did you read that?...
Order through Fudges Cycles and you'll get everything in the deal, other shops manipulate kit to make the target price.

I also responded to the OP in his other post.
Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!
  • I stand corrected. must just be my cheap deal seeking :)

It's just that I try to avoid your tagline (but rarely manage)

I received no outer for my SRAM TT shifters or brakes. I used Jagwire L3 outers and it runs fine
