I have a mate who is having problems shifting down from big ring to small,
it seems to jam in between the 2.
After looking closely the pin at the top was hanging out by about 2mm.
We then pushed it back in, but it seems like the whole mech is moving around under tension, like the pins are worn.
Anyone had similar problems?

  • That's clear... as mud.

What 'pin' do you mean? It sounds like the cable tension and limit screws aren't set right.

    Pics would help.

In my mind I have visions of the pins that the housing pivots on (i.e. connecting the bracket to the derailliuer). Am I right?

If that's right then I'd either buy a new one or if it's new enough warrenty it. Not something I've heard about before.

Yes thats the one,its hard to explain but the whole mech seems really worn, it goes all directions when the cable is pulled rather than straight onto the big ring.

Hope i have explained enough sorry guys

Maybe not the right answer - but it's cheap enough to replace it.
