To cut it short me and my mate are planning a long distance mountain bike ride which is part of a extended project we are doing at our six form.

Were doing it to raise money for charity which is part of the project ( undecided on charity to support yet).

The route has to be 150 miles + but unfortunately we have to do it mid February due to the project having to be finished by march and that's the only week off we get after christmas.

We are fairly experienced been to the peaks a few times and regularly at local trails ( Thetford forest) we both ride hardtails so no extreme downhill trails please.

So far we've got potential routes of the Coast to Coast route but re routing some of the high passes because of the time of year. http://www.mbruk.co.uk/mbruk_CoastToCoast_details.htm

Or the route called wessex way which crosses across the whole of southern England from Eastbourne - Basingstoke - Wells - Weston super mare. This route is a long 250 miles but is a lot easier than the Coast to Coast route and would properly be a better option for that time of year.

Any suggestions/advice on potential routes, ones people have rode. Best way to plan the route, any good websites resources would be a great help. We are completely new to this so any help at all would be great. Thanks
