Folded rigid tyres - to return or to use?

Hello all.

As some of you may know, I recently bought, from Ebay, a new pair of "folding" Continental X-King's.

Unfortunately they turned out to be not folding, but steel bead tyres.

The seller twist-folded them in half to post, resulting in some noticeable, but overall fairly minor bends that I have managed to straighten out.

My question is, do you think they will be ok to use (with a partial refund!)? Or should I go after a full refund and return them?

  • +1 Agree with rowlers - return them for a refund.

Incidentally, that is how on-one.co.uk package their tyres too. The non-folding tyres end up with a small hop (or two) when you spin the wheel with the tyres properly mounted.

Yeah I have had an email and I am going to return them. I reckon they would be fine to use, but they are not the bargain that was described.

I have ordered a pair now from 'Next Day Tyres'. I hope they stick to their name as I need them for Dalby on Sunday!
