Desert ride in 2012?

before I get too old and knackered I'd like to ride on the road but in a real desert. I have found

but it seems rather expensive at £3549 for 7 days, even though the profit goes to a good cause.
Does anyone know of other charity or holiday road / touring bike rides say in N.American deserts for 2012?

I think if you get yourself to the States, they would be a good value option, they have a good reputation.
