A quick squirt of this at night over the garden fence if they are making noise outside, or even through the letter box will have them retching at the stench. Even a squirt around door frames or near open windows will clear out any party in seconds it seems!

Oh, and I suspect the landlord will offer lip service to any complaint at best.

Bit of a fail if they've got bigger speakers though.

I have had to resort to this method myself, but be warned it is illegal.

If you are in a flat I would assume there is an electrical cupboard where the meters are kept, where their meter is there will be a big fuse carrier with two screws holding it in place and a small piece of wire with a tag on it, when they are out remove the fuse, = no electricity = no noise.

It only get worse around this area mate. The last 3 nights have been parties in most of the houses by me until 4am, woke up this morning to find someone had put a bed ontop of one car and emptied rubbish over another. It's only a matter of time til i go on a student killing spree.

had a similar problem with neighbours fighting till the wee hours

we found out who the leasing company was, and complained to them about their behaviour

as it turns out we were renting from the same company, which no doubt helped

we called the cops about 4 times and that made no difference at all, but one word from the landlord and they stopped immediately

we moved out shortly after, so i don't know whether they started again

we were only renting, but the poor bloke on the other side owned his place, so was stuck

We've had this too. The problems we found were that the Landlord had no power over the tenants cos he was soft and flacid. The police couldn't do anything. The EHO wouldn't come roud at 3am to witness the noise.

So, I made a phone call to the local police (obviously not 999 but the station's number) and logged a report. I then posted a flier through everyones letter boxes advising they do they same. The council can only serve an eviction notice with a log of offence to back them up, and even then if you are the only person you look like a tw@t of a neighbour. Lots of people leaving reports about the address gives a really strong case.

When the tenants realised there was some organisation to get them evicted - they soon shut up.

The back up plan was a delivery of large crickets throught the letter box :twisted:

Don't leave a note, just nip in at a sensible hour and have a chat with them. Most noisy people are just thoughtless rather than evil.

Course, if that fails we did discover that Sepultura played through a bass guitar amp, placed facing the wall, knocks everything off their shelves. And our shelves for that matter so only a partial win but still.

A couple of years ago whilst our neighbours were on holiday their teenage daughter had a massive party. The noise went on till about 6am and only stopped then after I nipped round for the second time and was a little more stern.

So at 6am there is a house full of wasted sleeping teenagers. At 8:30am I nipped out into the garden (I know all my other neighbours are up and about this time anyway) and fired up the chainsaw. I only had to prune a couple of tiny branches but the chainsaw seemed just perfect.

The sight of a few green looking teens shouting at the top of their voices for me to stop whilst I looked at them revving the engine saying "what, what, can't hear you mate, sorry." made my whole day.

Lovely.

If having a word doesn't help you could try asking if the university can help.


[Rambling anecdote...]
While we were at university a friend decided to have a large party. All the neighbours were invited but someone 4 streets away complained.

The police came around but were happy enough as long as the party stayed within the grounds of the house, which it did.

Someone from the university came around and said the party had to stop because of the complaint they had had. The party moved indoors and quietened down a bit.

The lad who organised it got a bollocking the following week from the course tutor who had been given the report from the security people. He was quite proud as it said "We'd never seen anything quite like it".

Having lived through the noisy neighbours from all night parties to having a drug dealer next door, there is very little you can do. For people that have not experienced this, it grinds you down. You go from asking them to be quiet, to the Police, to environmental services. Nothing happens and you still have noisy people living next door or in an adjacent flat.

Although most people will disagree the only solution that works is to take matter into your own hands. The drug dealer was "evicted", the scum on the ground floor with the parties all night, every night had a flat fire (wasn't me). The two students above him got the message when somebody pointed out they were lucky the fire brigade managed to put it out before it spread to their flat.

A mate had an issue with constant loud music and parties, his solution was to gain access to to the electricity supply for the block and cut the blokes power. One of his neighbours went a bit too far and stabbed the bloke. When the Police and ambulance turned up he refused treatment, went back into the flat and turned the music. The neighbour went back and stabbed him properly.

Ive had this for many years mate, i live in a flat pretty much surrounded by student flats. Most of the year its not too bad but weekends and the obvious (freshers week etc) can be a bit stressful.

A few years ago I used to knock on the door on my way to work, whichever zombie answered the door would get a cheerful explanation of how since they were so kind as to include me in their one night music festival I felt it only fair to invite them to join me in a brisk early morning walk across the city. It changed nothing but at least they felt my pain.

A buddy of mine did put half a kebab through the letterbox one night but they already had a few on the doormat so it didnt really have the desired effect.

My neighbours left their 18 year old son at home while they've been on holiday the past 2 weeks. After hearing him coming in at 3am with all his friends for the past couple of weekends, shouting and playing loud music, some sort of 'gentle' reminder was overdue. Cue us having fireworks last night to celebrate my sister's birthday (some of which may have drifted a bit close to his bedroom window...) and a friend 'testing' his Harley Davidson's engine, with straight through exhaust, naturally, at 8am before going to work at the end of his drive :twisted:
