One of my Tektro Auriga Comps is leaking. Which I'm justifiably miffed about. Having spoken to a guy in Halfords and Tektro's distributor I'm told it can't be fixed. A piston seal. That's all it needs - and I have to fork out £70 for an entire new unit. It's daylight robbery.
Definitely not going back to Tektro. Whilst the brakes themselves are fine when they work, I just can't believe the lack of available maintenance.
So in a time of recession when I seem to have more money going out than coming in, I need a cheap alternative to keep me going for a while. Or even a cheap fix if anyone knows one (any chance you could put thicker fluid in??).
Any special offers on at the minute?

Depends what you want them for. If you want something cheap that will stop you: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=67246 Don't forget you will need rotors and possibly post to IS mount adaptors for them - yours will likely suffice.
Or you could look out for a second hand pair of Tektro's like yours and swap the bad calliper.

Cheers Guys. I can't believe how much these things cost - it's not really something I've looked into before. The entire bike only cost me £400 new.
It's like a 3rd of that just to replace the brakes!0 -

Like anything..if you want quality you get what you pay for ! hence I paid £430 for a pair of XTR brakes and they are faultless...and the ones on your bike are gash and ready for the bin..
I would trawl ebay for some shimano deore that are near new as someone has upgraded..you can pick a pair up for around £50.0 -

they have by a long way the best stopping power of any brakes I've owned up until now.
The problem is, the missus wants a holiday and I'm skint! And I'm getting a little bored of the fury. I feel a build coming on. So any new parts I'd love to keep them for that - it's not the same with used stuff, is it...
But I seriously need something to stop me for the time being. Riding trails with only a front brake is no fun at all, I can tell you. Unless you're a mentalist of course, I suppose it could be enjoyable, but I like that element of control personally.

To be honest the Fury is not a bad bike, I had one years ago and it got me back in to MTB again....I would look on ebay...be carefull and you should get a decent set for around 50 sheets0 -
I bet my Tektros are more powerful than your XTR ;-)0
