Pedals...

So my Wellgo MG1's haven't held out too well in this gritty Welsh mud.

The internal seal/sleeve has split causing it to not spin and it won't hold any grease now so i'm not happy.

So I have to get some new pedals.

Do I take a punt at some more MG1's or try something else?

Annoying thing is that my oooooold Gusset Slim Jims are still buttery smooth. Had them about 3 years, lots of riding and had no issues at all. I've put them on the Boardman for now, but they're missing a few pins and a bit heavy.

So i'm thinking of going for the magnesium version of the Gusset.... but they're £40-£45...

Anything cheaper and as light apart from MG1's?

Can you get new seals for the pedals you have now?

  • I don't think so... seen some spares on Ebay, but it doesn't include what I need and it was £16!
  • superstar pedals, from my experience are just as good as everyone raves about, mine look like I found them they are that battered! but they are still as silky smooth as the day i bought them, after a lot of miles being covered in all sorts of conditions

I was initially going to pickup the MG-1`s but i fancied something a little different put some of these on my B-Pro, them seam well made so far, but they are pretty narrow to be honest, narrow as in the actual width for you foot.

I have not put enough miles on them to give any feedback regarding how well they would last, though do feel like a decent product, and i think a little lighter than the MG1.

Probably no good at all if you have big wide feet though.

Service the MG1! The DU bush and cartridge bearing can be matched.
