hi all.

im trying to get fit and lose some weight, i started running few months back and doing about 7km every other night, I now want to get into mountain biking on the nights/ days im not running. i have swinley forest right on my doorstep and would like a bike thats upto the task. MAX i want to spend is £450.

ive been looking at these, and like them in this order. are they good bikes, have i missed a special bike out there for my price range?

i can get this bike for £430, looks fantastic in person http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... _Bike_2011

Can you visit a store to try any out? The Hardrock has a nice frame, but poor fork and parts. The DB is good value, better (but still basic) fork.

they will let me sit on them, thats about it. at this stage , im going on looks  as i dont know enough about all the different specs/parts etc.

so just wanting pointing in the direction on a good spec bike for my money.

could i upgrade the forks at a later date after i trash the ones on the DB

have you heard of this bike.

  • I'd take a look at Paul's cycles, the 2009 GT is similar money and better spec. or the full suss yukon with tora forks is under 500 now.
    Too-ra-loo-ra, too-ra-loo-rye, aye

    Giant Trance
    Radon ZR 27.5 Race
    Btwin Alur700
    Merida CX500
  • That bike from Decathlon is very highly regarded for it's price point.

The best fork you'll see on a bike at this price point, I have the same fork on a bike with an £850rrp. I don't think you'll find a better bike for the price.
