£600 to spend on 29er- talon 1 Giant?

OK, decided to go the 29er way for the terrain I will be riding and to double up as a winter commuter.

£600 to spend, considering the Giant Talon 29er 1 any others I should consider?

  Has a pretty dire spec for the money - these forks are found on £200 bikes, and are an embarassment at this money.
