Has anyone registered for the Brompton Dock pilot? Seems like an interesting idea. You join the scheme and hire the bikes as often as you need them. It's on trial at Guildford station at the moment, but if successful they will roll it out to more stations.

That is a bloody good idea, way better than trying to dock your Johnson.

Only proviso is that they expand the number of bikes to be in line with the number of registrations 'cos it would be vv annoying to fork out the membership and then never be able to find a bike.

Overall though, like it a lot as a concept.

Good for the occasional user or for someone who wants to try before they buy. If I've got it right it would cost about £500 a year for a regular 5 days a week commuter which would be a lot more expensive that buying one

  • I think that's where it would work for me - I have to go up to London periodically, but would much prefer the cycling option at the other end. If I was going to do it every day I'd buy one outright as you say.

Fingers crossed it works out, as it's good to see a British company being innovative and successful.
